ABU DHABI // Emiratis can now travel to the Bahamas without first applying for a visa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, MOFAIC, announced that citizens can travel to the Commonwealth of the Bahamas without requiring prior entry visa and can stay for a period not exceeding 90 days.

According to Ahmed Saeed Al Dhahiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs at the Ministry, the UAE and the Bahamas have signed a memorandum of understanding, MoU, on mutual visa waiver, which allows Emirati citizens with diplomatic special, mission and regular passports to enter the territory of the Bahamas without prior entry visa requirement. This has become effective from December 27, reported Wam, the state news agency.

“This decision shows the evolving relations between the UAE and the Bahamas, and will contribute to further solidifying joint co-operation in the future,” the foreign ministry official said.
