FUJAIRAH // Residents of Dibba Al Fujairah expect a newly announced exhibition centre to further boost the local economy and tourism.

The new centre, which is the first of its kind in the area, will have a modern design and cover an area of 2,400 square metres. It will be located in Al Nahda area in Dibba and is expected to be completed in August 2018.

The plans were announced under directives of Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Ruler of Fujairah. The centre will be managed by Fujairah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The centre will host exhibitions, conventions and trade fairs throughout the year, said Sultan Al Hindasi, deputy manager of the chamber.

“Having a venue that can accommodate and arrange for trade fairs, national and international exhibitions in Dibba is a step forward to promote the area and its local industries,” Mr Al Hindasi said.

“It’s cool weather, high population and unique location overlooking the Indian Ocean makes it the perfect place for such projects.

“The facility will benefit all the community members and will encourage more people on visiting the area.”

The exhibition centre will have three ballrooms that can be joined into one, along with restaurants, coffee shops and parking lots.

“The centre’s ballrooms can also be rented for various occasions and wedding celebrations, and will host social and community activities and conferences,” Mr Al Hindasi said.

“It will attract local and international enterprises, and will play an important role in the country and the area’s economic and financial growth.”

One Dibba resident said the area needs new projects to prosper and become more well-known.

“When I hear about new projects being planned for the area I feel really happy and thrilled,” said Rasheed Al Dhanhani, 36.

“Dibba is a very nice place and a getaway for many locals and tourists, and having a venue that can host many exhibitions will make people want to come and explore the area more.

“It will definitely give a boost to the tourism and economic sectors and that will benefit us all.”

Dibba Al Fujairah is located on the northeast part of the country, 70 kilometres away from Fujairah, and is considered the second-largest city in Fujairah, with a population of 30,898.
