The Dubai International Financial Centre Courts is working with Dubai Future Foundation to roll out a Court Tech Lab as it aims to see how judicial systems can be improved through technology.

The lab plans to bring together individuals and companies to build prototypes and launch new legal technology, with a focus on Blockchain, artificial intelligence-enabled programmes and cloud-based solutions.

“Thinking through the judicial implications of emerging technologies is a key priority for the DIFC Courts,” Omar Al Muhairi, deputy chief justice of DIFC Courts said. The new initiative will introduce “innovations to transform the experience of using a court”.

The Tech Lab will run an annual competition cycle, helping to raise capital for companies demonstrating promising breakthroughs in the arena of court tech. The Dubai Future Foundation’s Area 2071, a start-up ecosystem, will support the competition to invite start-ups and innovative SME participants to submit and present new and viable court tech solutions.

Winners will receive financial investment, as well as access to the DIFC Courts to research, test and adapt the technology solution.
