Following the success of Royal Jet’s US$7,800 luxury package for the Manchester City-Barcelona football match earlier this month, the private charter jet operator plans to organise more of these sports packages in the future.

“The response was good,” said Shane O’Hare, the president and chief executive of Royal Jet. “Royal Jet Luxury Vacations, our travel division, took 20 guests who were treated in style.”

The visitors were flown on a private Boeing Business Jet from the company’s private terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport, hosted at the five-star, Hilton Manchester Hotel and were seated at the VIP corporate box at the Etihad Stadium.

Mr O’Hare pointed out that for the price, travellers would probably just about get a first class air ticket on scheduled carriers to London or Manchester.

“We plan to stage more of these, not just with Manchester City, with whom we have close ties. We are also looking at other global sports events such as the F1 race and even the football World Cup, for which there is high demand,” Mr O’Hare said.
