Pros and cons of three new customer rewards schemes with extras

Rewards programmes is all about retaining customers and ensuring their loyalties. Here are three UAE rewards schemes worth trying.

1. Rotana rewards programme

Benefits: Recently upgraded, the hotel operator’s exclusive customer loyalty programme now offers a dedicated app and more than 1,000 redeemable gifts as well as the usual discounts at food outlets and special treatment during any stay. The programme also offers room upgrades and air miles from partner carriers. Rotana has hotels across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe, including a number of properties in the UAE.

Watch out for: Membership costs Dh950 a year.

2. Mashreq Air Arabia Visa Platinum Credit Card

Benefits: The co-branded card offers extra baggage allowances, complimentary in-flight meals and bonus rewards points back on purchases made. As with other airline-branded cards you can redeem points for flights on the low-cost carrier. The platinum card also offers 50 per cent more rewards points when booking tickets with Air Arabia.

Watch out for: You earn points at a rate of 1.5 per cent – platininum card – or 0.75 per cent – classic – on the dirham value of any transaction.

3. Pirelli pre-paid Visa card campaign

Benefits: The official Formula One tyre provider offers its latest promotion to customers who buy two or four of its tyres before November 10. They will get a pre-paid Visa card with the equivalent of US$26 to US$64 already loaded up to spend anywhere that accepts Visa.

Watch out for: The promotion applies only to purchases of tyres sized 17 inches and above.
