The developer has announced the hiring of Shapoorji Palloni Mideast LL as the main contractor to build the development, called Bloom Central

The 25-storey project, due for completion in the first quarter of 2014, will include a 315-room Marriott Hotel, 64 Marriott executive apartments, 49 two- and three-bedroom residences and more than 7,000 square metres of office space.

The enabling work has already been completed on the site, which is on Airport Road near Al Wahda Mall.

Despite the regional slowdown, Bloom recently completed Bloom Gardens, a collection 123 villas, and the Brighton School.

"We are committed to these projects," said Bassam El Khoury, Bloom's vice president of sales and marketing. "We promised and we are delivering."

Bloom Central will enter a market that is already well supplied with hotel rooms and offices, analysts say. A new report by Asteco forecasts there is enough office space in development to supply the market until at least 2020.

"We have the pipeline to fill up these offices," said Mr El Khoury said. "This will be a long term investment."
