The number of new homes built in the emirate of Abu Dhabi during Q2 has increased by 15.4 per cent compared with the previous quarter, new figures from the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi have revealed.
A total of 3,565 homes were completed in the emirate during the three months to June 2012, up from 3,088 in the first quarter.
Abu Dhabi region accounted for the majority of the homes, seeing the total number of residential completions increase 17.3 per cent to 3,302.
In Al Gharbia region the number of new home completions rose 42.2 percent to 118 units. However, the number of new homes completed in the Al Ain region during the period fell 23.3 per cent to just 145.
The figures also show that the number of new homes completions has grown by 3.8 per cent in the emirate compared with the previous year when total home completions in Q1 2011 stood at 3,435 according to SCAD. Figures for Q2 2011 were unavailable.
The government body reported that the total number of buildings completed in the region decreased by 5.3 per cent to 1,516 in Q2 2012.
It found that 68.0 percent of new buildings were in the Abu Dhabi region, 9.0 percent in Al Ain and 23.0 percent in Al Gharbia region.
Moreover, 1,144 (or 75.5 percent) of the buildings completed during the second quarter of 2012 in the emirate were intended for residential use.
