Mobile phone buyers in the UAE can now buy a new device complete with video player and music player for a similar price to a takeaway dinner.

The Nokia 130, which can carry out 46 hours continuous playback, has a suggested retail price of just Dh85, Microsoft said in a statement.

It also comes with a flashlight, FM radio and USB charging. It features a 1.8in colour display and has room for a 32GB SD Card that can hold up to 6,000 songs.

The phone is being marketed as an ideal handset for first-time mobile buyers or a back-up for those who own a more expensive smartphone

“As our most affordable phone with video and music playback, the Nokia 130 is a great first or backup phone,” said Jon French, vice president Middle East, Microsoft Mobile Devices.

The Nokia 130 is available in red, black or white.

Nokia, which has four budget handsets in the UAE's top 10 most popular phones according to data from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, announced three new Lumia smartphones during the IFA Berlin consumer electronics show earlier this month.

It showcased in Germany the new Lumia 730, 735 and 830 models, which all run on the Windows 8.1 operating system.

Microsoft bought Nokia’s phone business in April.
