A community mall in Dubai's Discovery Gardens is fully leased and on track to open early next year.
Discovery Gardens Community Centre, which will cater to those living in Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan and The Gardens communities, is about 35 per cent complete, according to the developer Nakheel.
The Discovery Gardens facility is one of two community malls Nakheel is currently building.
Jumeirah Park Community Centre, which will serve residents in Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Village, Jumeirah Islands and the surrounding areas, is slightly ahead of the Discovery Gardens project and is scheduled to open at the end of the year.
"Part of our strategy for this year and beyond is to enhance our existing communities," said Rebecca Rees, a spokeswoman for Nakheel.
The Discovery Gardens Community Centre features more than 20 local and international retailers and eateries, including Bin Sina Pharmacy, Federal Exchange, Jebel Ali Nursery and Burger King.
Géant, the anchor tenant, will occupy more than 40 per cent of the complex.
It will also include one of Dubai's first Chuck E Cheese outlets, one of 11 cafes and restaurants at the centre.
Jumeirah Park Community Centre will feature 30 retailers in total, including Early Learning Centre, Bin Sina Pharmacy, Holland & Barrett and Geekay Games.
Géant is also the anchor tenant at Jumeirah and will occupy almost a quarter of the space.
Both community malls will feature a range of convenience stores, such as dry cleaners, money exchanges and hair salons.
"Some tenants are common to both," said Ms Rees. "There is a diverse range of facilities, from your everyday supermarket to your cafes and restaurants and hairdressers - the kinds of things that you expect to have in a growing community," she added.
