Property and construction stocks lead Abu Dhabi and Dubai shares higher at the open.

The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange General Index rose 0.4 per cent to 2626.45, led by Aldar Properties which rose 4.4 per cent to Dh1.42 a share. Sorouh Real Estate added 4.5 per cent to Dh1.55.

Dubai's benchmark, the Dubai Financial Market General Index, rose 1.4 per cent to 1528.68, led by Arabtec Holding. The Dubai contractor rose 3.9 per cent to Dh1.57 a share. Emaar Properties was lifted by 2.7 per cent to Dh3.03.

Elsewhere in the region, both Kuwait and Bahrain's measures remained unchanged at 6317.60 and 1401.00 respectively.

Qatar's index rose 0.6 per cent to 8393.12. Oman's measure was unchanged at 6365.22. The Saudi Tadawul All-Share Index rose 0.2 per cent to 6357.37.
