Emirates Airline, the world's biggest carrier by international traffic, will become the official airline of the men's tennis tour for the next five years, both parties said today.
The Dubai-based carrier will also sponsor the ATP tennis rankings starting January 1, the ATP World Tour said in a statement on its website. The rankings are currently sponsored by South African Airways.
"We're delighted to welcome Emirates as the official airline of the ATP World Tour," said Brad Drewett, the ATP executive chairman and president.
"It's fantastic news for men's professional tennis that a brand of Emirates' global stature has pledged their support to the ATP World Tour for the next five years."
Emirates Airline sponsors several ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events as well as the US Open Series and the company is also an official partner of the US Open.
Yesterday's announcement "is a perfect addition to our existing portfolio of global sports sponsorships", said Maurice Flanagan, the Emirates Airline executive vice chairman.
