Amazon tops the list with tech companies leading the pack in attracting job seekers
LinkedIn's most-viewed job posting in the UAE this year was a business development manager position at Amazon's Souq.com that clinched more than 124,000 views.
The top ten most popular jobs on the social network received over 940,000 views so far this year, LinkedIn said on Sunday.
The four most-viewed postings, including the two highest ranked, were at technology-related multinational corporations including Amazon (No 1), ABB (No 2), Huawei of China (No 4) and Temenos of Switzerland (No 8).
“It should come as no surprise that the technology industry is the most popular option for UAE job seekers, especially as the country continues to drive its tech ambitions," said Ali Matar, head of LinkedIn emerging markets, Middle East and Africa.
The position of lead engineer for railways at ABB, a Swiss-Swedish company that specialises in robotics and automation technology, came close on the heels of Amazon, with over 121,000 views. It was followed by front office assistant at Marriott Hotels Dubai Marina Complex with around 115,000 views.
Property developer Emaar and family conglomerate Majid Al Futtaim also made the list, with Arabic Speaking Customer Service Officer and Personal Assistant roles, respectively.
LinkedIn has 12,000 job postings in the UAE.
Souq.com, the largest e-commerce site in the Arab world that was purchased by Amazon last year for $580 million (Dh2.13 billion), has more than 4,500 employees.
Last week, Souq.com said it would open a new fulfilment centre in Dubai, creating 600 jobs.
The e-commerce sector in the Middle East is growing at the fastest pace globally with online sales expected to double to $48.8bn by 2021, according to a report by Fitch Solutions, a unit of Fitch Group.
“The new Dubai fulfilment centre, along with the existing FCs, will enable Souq to handle the current and future demand in the UAE,” said the company. “The new facility will also help Souq meet is objective of growing selection and improving convenience for its customers.”
