Calaconta is a five-star Spanish luxury development set 500 metres from what is considered to be one of the most beautiful bays in Ibiza with stunning views out to Isla del Bosque and La Conejera.
The developer, Clover Investment Group, wanted to create a new type of residential community where security and privacy are given priority along with protection of the natural environment. Situated 20 minutes from the airport and half an hour from old Ibiza town, the complex comprises 32 villas of three designs. Prices start at €1.85 million (Dh9.07m). Every villa has a private pool and there is a natural pool by the sea.
There is a fitness area and spa centre and a common garden planted with cypress, olive and palm trees. The streets in the complex are completely closed to regular traffic. The development's eco credentials include recovery rainwater tanks for gardening use, reuse of grey water through a purification process for the filling of tanks, and use of geothermal energy for air conditioning and home electricity. Local materials were also used in building the houses.
The development has a 24-hour concierge service that offers babysitting, housekeeping, entertainment booking, boat rentals, chauffeured cars and surveillance.
The chief architect, Maged Barmawi, designed the homes so that the owners see no difference from being inside or outside the properties. The kitchens come fully equipped with Miele, Neff and Gaggenau appliances.
"We recognised that buyers want a holiday home where they feel private, safe and secure in a luxurious yet clutter free environment knowing all the services they could ever need are on hand via the concierge," said Jose Peman, chairman of Clover Investment Group.
"Calaconta is the first luxury development of its kind in Ibiza, and being part of a development makes the villas more secure than a private villa and ultimately more economical. Also it offers peace of mind that while you are not there, or if you let it out, you know it will be looked after."
Tell me more about the developer.
Jose Peman, the chairman of Clover Investment Group, started his career in banking and was the first Spanish national to become a senior director at Chase Investment Bank. Some 18 years ago, together with two associates, he cofounded Brunswick Investment, the first post-privatisation investment bank in Russia. This became the biggest investment bank in Russia for a number of years. Brunswick was later sold to UBS. Along the way, Mr Peman became a shareholder in Procisa, a leading Spanish property company.
