The Dubai-based Arabian Radio Network (ARN) today launched a new FM station targeting Farsi speakers.

Radio Shoma, which translates as 'Your Radio' in English, is broadcast 24 hours a day on the 93.4 FM frequency. It will also be broadcast over the internet.

The station will feature entertainment, music, sports and news programming, ARN said in a statement.

Radio Shoma is the eighth station broadcast by ARN, which was formed in 2001. Others include Dubai 92, Virgin Radio 104.4 and Dubai Eye 103.8.

The Dubai-based ARN is a subsidiary of Arab Media Group (AMG).

"We have conducted in-depth research amongst the Farsi speaking community in UAE and have seen a definite want for a station of this kind," said Mohammed Al Mulla, the chief executive of Arab Media Group, in a statement.

"Radio Shoma 93.4 is the ideal solution for advertisers across the UAE who want to reach out to Farsi speakers," he added.
