The ride-sharing app Careem said on Sunday it soon plans to expand services to 15 new cities.

The Dubai-based company said the new cities would be in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, where it already has operations.

The company, however, did not name the cities.

The car-booking service will be available in six more cities in the kingdom, taking the tally to 23. In Egypt, the app will expand to three more cities and a further six in Pakistan.

“As a home-grown company, we have in-depth knowledge of the region and we tailor our services to ensure we offer convenient transportation options that have a meaningful impact on the local population,” said Mudassir Sheikha, the managing director at Careem.

Last month, Mr Sheikha told The National that Careem was considering expanding into East Africa.

In October, Careem launched in Turkey, where it operates limited services ferrying passengers to and from the airport.
