The Life: The White House has been placed on the market for just £1.5 million pounds - but it is not the one which may first come to mind.
A White House far from Washington
This property may feature the same colour and name as the one at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, but that is where the similarities end.
This particular White House could not be further from the official residence and principal workplace of the president of the United States. The home, known as the White House of Aros, which is on the market with offers of more than £1.5 million (Dh8.7m), sits on the shore of the small Scottish island of Mull.
The house, formerly part of the Aros Castle Estate, is believed to date from the late 1800s and was originally the residence of the factor, an agent for the estate, and was also once an inn. The seven-bedroom property, which is approached by a long, gravel driveway that hugs the coastline, was bought by the current owners in 1996 and refurbished.
Many of the bedrooms overlook the Sound of Mull, a large inlet of the Atlantic.
The property also has two kitchens, a boot room, and several reception rooms. It is surrounded by woods and a walled garden and has two slipways, a traditional pier, and a deep-water anchorage for yachts. Moorings are rented from the Crown Estate at £80 each.
Five years ago, the current owners built The Boathouse, which is adjacent to the old pier north of the house. The Boathouse is advertised for holiday letting and is usually fully booked between February and November. The kitchen, dining and living spaces, which have floor-to-ceiling windows, are higher up, while the sleeping accommodations are in the building's lower part, known as the "hull".
The integral boat store doubles as a games or party room.
The sale includes a three-bedroom gardener's cottage on the 17-hectare estate. It is occupied by a caretaker and a housekeeper, whose employment would be transferred to the buyer.
