The Punjabi rapper and actor Yo Yo Honey Singh – real name Hridesh Singh – celebrated his 31st birthday in Dubai on Saturday. He posted two pictures of his party on Twitter, but didn’t specify where he was exactly. “It’s Yo Yo’s birthday coming and god is blessing me with heavy rain … falling from heaven in Dubai. #miracle #jumeirah,” he wrote, adding: “I love my Dubai brothers.” Singh is reportedly working on a song for a film featuring Amitabh Bachchan.
Kevin Spacey responds to Toronto mayor
Kevin Spacey tweeted a Photoshopped image of himself between the Toronto mayor, Rob Ford, and his brother in response to the siblings' criticism that he won't take photos with them. Rob and Doug Ford complained that they were told they could not have their picture taken with the actor when Spacey and Rob Ford appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on March 2. The mayor later said he wouldn't know Spacey "if I ran over him". Along with the photo, Spacey tweeted: "When did Mayor Ford start doing what people tell him to do? All you had to do was ask, guys. Comedian David Brenner dies
David Brenner, The Tonight Show favourite whose brand of observational comedy became a staple for other stand-up comedians, including Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Reiser, died on Saturday. He was 78. Brenner, who had been fighting cancer, died at his home in New York City. Brenner's stand-up routines became a favourite of The Tonight Show host Johnny Carson in the 1970s and he appeared more than 150 times on the show. "He was the godfather of hip, observational comedy," the comedian Richard Lewis said in a statement. – AP
Susheela Raman launches new album
The British-Indian singer Susheela Raman has released her sixth studio album, Queen Between, which features collaborations with musicians from Pakistan, France and India. “I think this album has a great potential to connect with an Indian audience. I am so privileged to collaborate with so many great artists from across the world,” the 40-year-old singer said in a statement. “It was also great that we used a crowdfunding site, pledgemusic.com, to fund the album.”
Tyler, The Creator, arrested at SXSW
The rapper Tyler, The Creator, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly inciting a riot during a show at the South By Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas. Police say the 23-year-old Los Angeles musician incited a large crowd of fans to push their way past venue employees controlling access to a Thursday show that was already at full capacity. If convicted of inciting a riot, he faces up to a year in jail. – AP
