Reese Witherspoon was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, for alleged disorderly conduct after her husband, the talent agent James Toth, was stopped by police on suspicion of drunken driving. Witherspoon, 37, was arrested on Friday after she quarrelled with officers who had taken Toth, 42, into custody after he failed a blood-alcohol breath test. Witherspoon was warned to stay inside the vehicle, but she got out of the automobile and said "she was a US citizen" and that she had the right to "stand on American ground". Witherspoon was then arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct. According to Variety, Witherspoon told the police officer: "Do you know my name? You're about to find out who I am … You're going to be on national news." The couple were taken to jail, booked and released hours later. On Sunday, Witherspoon said in a statement: "I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behaviour." - Reuters / AP

Carly Rae Jepsen big Juno winner

Carly Rae Jepsen came out on top on Sunday night during Canada's national music awards, winning Album of the Year, Pop Album of the Year and Single of the Year for her hit Call Me Maybe. Jepsen seemed stunned that her gold-selling album Kiss beat out Justin Bieber and Celine Dion at the Juno Awards. However, Bieber did take home his fourth career Juno for Fan Choice Award. Leonard Cohen won his second Juno of the year - the fifth of his career - for Songwriter of the Year for his album Old Ideas. - AP

Rudimental top UK charts

The London drum and bass quartet Rudimental notched up a second No 1 in Britain's official singles charts on Sunday, at the expense of will.i.am and Justin Bieber who had to be content with the No 2 spot. Rudimental's song Waiting All Night, featuring Ella Eyre, beat will.i.am's #ThatPower, a collaboration with Bieber, said the Official Charts Company. The French electronic duo Daft Punk shot to the No 3 spot with their new single Get Lucky, from their new album Random Access Memories. Psy leapt up 51 places to reach 10th place with his new song Gentleman. In the albums charts, Michael Bublé's To Be Loved hit the No 1 spot in its first week. - Reuters

Studio remains in hunt for Snow White sequel

A follow-up to Snow White and the Huntsman is moving forward, though it's still unclear if Kristen Stewart will return as the warrior princess. Adam Fogelson, the chair of Universal Pictures, says the studio is aiming for a 2015 release on the sequel to last year's fairy-tale action story. The movie became overshadowed by headlines surrounding Stewart's affair with its director, Rupert Sanders. - AP
