Ibrahim El Batout's sobering drama is one of the first narratives to look at the Egyptian revolution.
What to see at DIFF: Winter of Discontent
While numerous documentaries covering last year's revolution in Egypt and the spirit that led to the scenes in Tahrir Square have been released over the past 18 months, narratives have been slower to emerge.
This sobering drama from Ibrahim El Batout ties together the paths of three characters entangled with the uprising, highlighting the police brutality that went on before and during.
Central to the story is Amr (Amr Waked), a political activist whose life takes a turn following his incarceration and torture at the hands of the state.
