Veteran critic and journalist Barry Norman dies

The legendary film critic and journalist Barry Norman passed away in his sleep at the age of 83 on Saturday.

The legendary film critic and journalist Barry Norman passed away in his sleep at the age of 83 on Saturday. Norman was most famous for presenting the BBC weekly film review show, Film, which he did for 26 years from 1972 to 1998.

A statement from his daughters, Samantha and Emma said: “He had a great life, a wonderful marriage and an enviable career.

BBC director-general Tony Hall expressed his condolences saying “Barry Norman was a first class presenter and critic. Film buffs always found his programmes essential viewing."
