The UAE's youngest and brightest media minds are invited to enter a new competition by the British Council UAE.

The Young Creative Entrepreneur Media Awards aims to link young UAE marketing wunderkinds to industry veterans in the UK.

The competition is open to entrepreneurs age 21 to 40, from sectors such as film and television, social media and creative arts. The application deadline is September 1.

"The UAE has a thriving creative industry, and we continue to witness rapid and immense progress within the sector, thanks to the entrepreneurial spirit of those who live and work here," says Michel Bechara, the head of projects for the British Council UAE.

Applicants must speak competent English, have been working in the UAE's media sector for at least three years and demonstrate an ability to develop and promote their products within the country. Shortlisted candidates will attend interviews in Dubai before a winner is picked on September 16.

The prize involves a study trip to London, where, as well as the opportunity to meet veteran entrepreneurs, the winner will attend key media events including October's London Film Festival and the Power to the Pixel conference.

The award comes hot on the heels of the announcement that the Emirati designer Iman Al Midfa has won the 2012 British Council Young Entrepreneur in Fashion and Design award as part of the International Young Design Entrepreneur Awards. She will be heading to London next month with 21 other international finalists.
