British travel author Tim Mackintosh-Smith’s amiability doesn’t come at the price of his competitiveness.
Speaking from his Friday masterclass at the Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature, he told the captive audience about his link with the late travel author Patrick Leigh Fermor.
“Nobody else has written a travel trilogy except him and myself,” he said.
“But his third volume was posthumous and I had the pleasure of publishing mine.”
