People magazine is reporting that the E! reality star and soon to be divorced Kim Kardashian is the latest celebrity to be paying the earthquake-ravaged country a visit.

Taking a step back from the personal drama in her life this year, which includes a quickie marriage and bitter divorce, Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner have travelled to Haiti with the charity group We Advance, joining the actress and star of the US Prime Suspect remake Maria Bello, who cofounded the organisation.

It is not known whether the trio will bump into Oprah Winfrey when she arrives today, a visit that will be hosted by the Haitian president Michel Martelly. In an interview with the Associated Press, the Haiti leader said he hoped Winfrey would serve as an "ambassador" and promote some of the nation's lesser-known attributes to outside investors.

On Monday Winfrey is due to visit a settlement camp run by the Hollywood actor Sean Penn and his aid group J/P HRO for some of the hundreds of thousands of people displaced in last year's earthquake. Also planned is a visit with the fashion designer Donna Karan, who has celebrated the work of Haiti's artisans through her Urban Zen Foundation.

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty is pregnant

The Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty has confirmed reports that she is pregnant, making her the third film personality to become a mother recently.

Shetty, who married the businessman Raj Kundra in November 2009 after a long courtship, had a previous miscarriage but confirmed reports that she was pregnant on Twitter yesterday. "Tweetos, 'Yes' an addition 2 r family is r confirmation 2 all queries. :) We seek blessings from all in this very beautiful phase of our lives," the actress wrote.

The 36-year-old Shetty, who shot to international fame in 2007 after she won Celebrity Big Brother, the UK-based reality show, braving verbal abuse from fellow house mates, juggles film assignments and several businesses, including a spa chain and a video series on yoga and fitness. She also co-owns the Indian Premier League team Rajasthan Royals with her husband. Reports said Shetty is in her second trimester.

Last month, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan delivered a baby girl, who remains unnamed - at least publicly. Anticipation about the Bachchan baby had built since March, when the actress pulled out of Madhur Bhandarkar's film Heroine due to the pregnancy.

The actor Aamir Khan and his director wife Kiran Rao managed to keep the December 1 birth of their baby boy a closely guarded secret. The couple, who married in 2005, adopted to go the IVF-surrogacy route for the birth of their child due to medical complications.

Sameera Reddy to promote Celebrity Cricket League

The actress Sameera Reddy has been roped in by the Celebrity Cricket League, an Indian Premier League-styled tournament of competing teams of celebrities, as the ambassador for the inaugural event. Reddy joins other stars led by Salman Khan in promoting the tournament. The other ambassadors include the actresses Sonakshi Sinha, Genelia D'Souza, and Kangana Ranaut.

"It's gonna rock'," she tweeted. "Will be representing Chennai! :) on my way to shoot for the #CCL Calender to Hyderabad!!"

Reddy would be representing the Chennai franchise, which has been dominated by the IPL format. In the IPL, the Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni leads the Chennai Superkings. The former superstar Sridevi and her producer husband Boney Kapoor have purchased the Kolkata franchise. The team would be coached by the former Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly.

Adele says her career is not her life

In a new interview with Billboard magazine, the 23-year-old singer-songwriter says one of the things that sets her career apart from those of her tabloid-fodder counterparts is that "my life isn't speculated about".

"I feel very lucky that it isn't really part of my life," she told the magazine.

Despite telling all in her two albums, 19 and this year's 21, the singer says she really is "incredibly private". The performer, who has had to cancel several concerts, is recuperating from successful vocal-cord surgery.

Murphy to turn from comedy

Eddie Murphy, currently starring in the caper Tower Heist, could soon play a more serious role - the troubled former Washington Mayor Marion Barry in an HBO project.

The journalists Tom Sherwood and Harry Jaffe have optioned the rights for their 1994 book Dream City: Race, Power and the Decline of Washington, DC and have an arrangement to consult on a project. The network is working with the director Spike Lee, who would direct.
