Salma Hayek: I'm proud to be Mexican
After German Vogue quoted her as saying she "hardly had any memories of what it is to be Mexican", Salma Hayek says her comments were "lost in translation". "I've never denied my background," she said in a statement. "I've taught my child to embrace her heritage, to love my first language ... and even the Mexican candy I grew up with. It saddens me when my words are taken out of context to hurt the people of Mexico, whom I love." - AP
Scott's notes didn't say reason for death
According to reports from the Los Angeles County coroner's office, notes left behind by the director Tony Scott did not give a motive for why he killed himself. The notes also did not mention any health issues. The 68-year-old Scott died last Sunday after leaping from a Los Angeles bridge. Coroner's officials are treating his death as a probable suicide. One of the notes left in his car was a list of emergency contacts and another included messages to loved ones. A private memorial service was held for Scott yesterday at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, directly behind the studio lot of Paramount Pictures, where Scott made Top Gun, the film that jump-started his career. - AP
