A Twilight wannabe, Harron's disappointing latest effort is not what you'd hope from the director of American Psycho. Set in an elite girls' boarding school, this adaptation of Rachel Klein's young-adult vampire novel sees the British model-turned-actress Cole play Ernessa, a new pupil who soon unsettles two friends, Rebecca (Bolger) and Lucy (Gadon).

As students start dying, Ernessa becomes the suspect, with Rebecca swiftly concluding that the new girl is one of the undead. The problem is, between giveaway flashbacks and Cole's spectral presence, this seems so obvious - there's no mystery, suspense or intrigue.

While the leads are solid, the special effects look cheap, the photography is dour and, worst of all for a vampire movie, it lacks bite.
