Fans of Netflix's The Crown have been given their first glimpse at season four, which is set to arrive on the streaming platform in November.

Newly released images offer a first look at newcomer Emma Corrin as Princess Diana, as well as Gillian Anderson's debut as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Corrin “immediately captivated” casting directors, show creator Peter Morgan revealed in a statement announcing her appointment, while the recently graduated actress said she was “beyond excited and honoured” to win the role.

"I have been glued to the show since the first episode and to think I'm now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal," said Corrin, who to date has only appeared in one televised show, a single episode of Grantchester in 2019.

The pictures also offer fans a glimpse at Olivia Colman as she reprises her role of Queen Elizabeth II, having taken over from Claire Foy in the third season, as well as Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret.

The series will also touch on the Falklands War, and will explore growing tension between Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher.
