MBC to run creative 'boot camps' for young people in Saudi
The course aims to cultivate young creative talent in Saudi Arabia, even seeking out the next generation of actors
Broadcasting company MBC Group has announced the launch of MBC Hope Saudi Boot Camp, a training programme that aims to train young people in Saudi Arabia who are interested in pursuing careers in cultural and creative industries.
The programme has been launched in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, under MBC Hope (Al Amal), the CSR arm of MBC Group, and it aims to "sharpen the skills" of young people, according to the company.
The company's official spokesperson, Mazen Hayek, shared this video about the initiative:
The boot camp will run as a series of intensive courses, expected to begin later in 2019, open to young Saudi individuals who have already gained experience in creative and cultural sectors.
A pan-industry initiative
With a focus on TV, film and cinema, MBC will give students access to leading studios, production companies, professional trainers and even on-screen talent. The disciplines covered in the courses will include script writing, production, and directing.
Young people who complete the programme also stand a chance to earn internships or jobs at MBC Studios. The boot camp also aims to seek out young talent, searching for a new generation of Saudi male and female actors.
According to MBC, the ultimate goal is "exporting local productions to the world, in collaboration with MBC Studios, MBC Group’s original content production division."
