Filipino singer goes viral after his performance on 'America's Got Talent: The Champions'

Marcelito Pomoy shocked judges with his impressive vocal range by performing a cover of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's 'The Prayer'

A Filipino singer who won Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011 has gone viral after appearing on America’s Got Talent: The Champions on Tuesday, January 14. Marcelito Pomoy shocked judges with his impressive vocal range by performing a cover of Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli's The Prayer and singing both parts interchangeably.

His performance received a standing ovation from the audience and judges Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell with those in the audiences chanting for the golden buzzard to be pushed (which would have automatically put him through to the next round).

Klum told Pomoy what she just saw was one of the “craziest things I’ve ever heard in my entire life.”

“Your voice, your song, your range is just so out of this world,” she said.

“That was what I call a 10. As simple as that,” added Cowell.

While ultimately the judges held off on awarding Pomoy with the buzzer, the show’s Superfans voted him through to the semi-final round meaning there will be at least one more performance from the 35-year-old.

The video of him singing was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday, January 14 and in two days already has close to 9 million views.

America’s Got Talent is the biggest stage in the whole world. So, I feel nervous. Very. I want to show the world that I’m a winner,” Pomoy said in footage played before his performance.

Of course, those who watched him when he was on Pilipinas Got Talent know that he's capable of winning the whole thing.

For those who can't wait until the next round, here's another performance of him singing Beauty and the Beast on The Ellen Show back in October:
