'Bombshell', 'The Duchess' and 'Ratched': Films and TV shows coming to UAE streaming sites in September

Here's what to watch from the comfort of your own home this month

A host of new television shows and films are being released on streaming sites in the UAE this September, with Sarah Paulson starring in Ratched, a One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest prequel series, Robert Pattinson in The Devil All the Time and Jude Law in The Third Day.

Here, we take a closer look at the new titles to watch out for on streaming sites in the near future ...

'Away'

UAE release date: Friday, September 4, on Netflix

Stars: Hilary Swank, Ato Essandoh, Josh Charles

The series stars Swank as Emma Green, an American astronaut who struggles with leaving her husband and daughter behind to embark on a dangerous three-year mission with an international space crew.

'Bombshell'

UAE release date: Friday, September 4, on OSN Streaming

Stars: Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie

Based on a real-life scandal, Bombshell tells the story of a group of women who take on Fox News head Roger Ailes and the toxic atmosphere he presided over at the network.

'The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot'

UAE release date: Saturday, September 5, on OSN Streaming

Stars: Sam Elliott, Aidan Turner, Caitlin FitzGerald

An American drama about an old man facing death, who is reliving his experiences of the Second World War through flashbacks.

'Surviving Jeffrey Epstein'

UAE release date: From Tuesday, September 8, on OSN Streaming

Lifetime's four-episode mini-series gives eight victims of convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein the chance to tell their story. The series includes the July 2020 FBI arrest of British socialite and alleged Epstein co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell. The first two episodes will be released on Tuesday, September 8, followed by the final two on Tuesday, September 15.

'Angel Has Fallen'

UAE release date: Friday, September 11, on OSN Streaming

Stars: Gerard Butler, Frederick Schmidt, Danny Huston, Morgan Freeman

Mike Banning (Butler) is framed for the attempted assassination of the US president (Freeman) and must evade his own agency and the FBI as he tries to uncover the real threat.

'The Duchess'

'Close Enough'

A married couple try to keep – and stay – cool as they move on from partying in their twenties to parenting in their thirties in this adult animated series.

'The Third Day'

Stars: Jude Law, Katherine Waterston, Naomie Harris, Paddy Considine

A six-part psychological series about a man and a woman who make separate journeys to a mysterious island off the British coast.

'The Devil All the Time'

UAE release date: Wednesday, September 16, on Netflix

Stars: Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan

This Netflix original is one of the most anticipated of 2020. The sinister psychological thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Donald Ray Pollock. The film centres on a young man devoted to protecting those he loves, in a small town teeming with corruption and brutality.

'Ratched'

UAE release date: Friday, September 18, on Netflix

Stars: Sarah Paulson, Judy Davis, Cynthia Nixon

This dramatic prequel to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest follows the character Nurse Ratched working in a psychiatric ward. She becomes jaded, bitter and a monster to her patients. The series is by American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy.

'Enola Holmes'

UAE release date: Wednesday, September 23, on Netflix

Stars: Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Helena Bonham Carter, Sam Claflin

Another Netflix book adaptation, Enola Holmes is a mystery film based on the series of the same name by Nancy Springer. The story centres on the titular Enola, the teen sister of Sherlock Holmes (Cavill), who sets off on a mission to find her mother when she goes missing, outwitting her super-sleuth brother along the way.
