'Bard of Blood' to 'The Politician': what is coming to Netflix Middle East in September?

A new Indian web series and three short Japanese anime tales are among nine new series and films coming to our screens next month

The weather might be (ever so slightly) cooling down, but our time in front of the TV is definitely not decreasing. So here are the new shows, films and documentaries coming to Netflix Middle East in September 2019.

Modest Heroes

Friday, September 6

Three short heart-warming Japanese animated tales are coming to Netflix this Friday. One tells the story of two underwater siblings surviving on their own, while another follows a boy with a serious egg allergy. The final one depicts a man invisible to the rest of society.


Season 2

Friday, September 6

Spanish series Elite follows three working-class teenagers as they enrol in an exclusive private school in Spain. Things take a turn for the worse when a clash between them and the wealthy students leads to murder. In season two, in the wake of a classmate’s death, another student vanishes, allegiances shift and new characters are introduced, as hiding dark secrets becomes increasingly hard to bear. The show has just been renewed for a third series.

Jeff Dunham: Beside Himself

Tuesday, September 24

Ventriloquist comedian Jeff Dunham is back on the road, this time in Dallas, Texas, with his old pals and trademark characters Walter, Peanut, Jose Jalapeno and Achmed. This new standup special promises to be a barrel of laughs for politically incorrect comedy fans.

Thursday, September 25

The acclaimed Australian TV series is back for a third season and this time we find police officer James Hayes (Patrick Brammall) back in his small country hometown where more recently deceased people are rising from the grave and old friends have become new threats. The mystery and danger is certainly intensifying in Yoorana.

This German series is set in Frankfurt, where a young and gifted hip-hop producer is offered the chance of a lifetime when he signs with Skyline Records. But that’s where things get messy, as the lines between the worlds of music, organised crime and high finance blur, and the label owner’s gangster brother returns from exile to claim his share in the business.

He has known he will fulfil that dream since he was just seven years old. Before taking over America, however, he must first navigate the most treacherous political landscape of all: his high school. This new comedy show follows Hobart as he attempts to get elected as student body president, secure a spot at Harvard and outsmart his ruthless classmates.

In the Shadow of the Moon

This new Netflix Original film is set in 1988 Philadelphia. Police officer Thomas Lockhart is keen to become a detective, so he begins tracking a serial killer who mysteriously resurfaces every nine years – except he soon finds the murderer's crimes seem to defy all scientific explanation. So, when Locke gets obsessed with the case and finding out the truth, he quickly ends up on a path to self destruction.

Bard of Blood

This Indian thriller series, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is based on the 2015 espionage novel of the same name by Bilal Siddiqi. It tells of sleeper agent Kabir Anand (Emraan Hashmi), who had been excommunicated because of a disastrous mission in Balochistan 10 years ago. When four Indian spies are captured, he must return to the place and face his demons, avenge his mentor and battle his deadliest enemies yet, all while trying to save his country and long lost love.
