Abu Dhabi’s SWAT team is set to make its television debut after filming scenes for a new six-part series set in the capital.

Filming for Mirage, a French action series being produced by Cineflix and Lincoln TV, has been under way in Abu Dhabi over the past week, shooting at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, on a yacht close to the Corniche and at various hotels.

And yesterday, one of the series' stars – British Vikings actor Clive Standen – shared how Abu Dhabi's real-life SWAT team will make an appearance in the show.

Posting an image of himself with the team in their full riot-gear to Twitter, he said: “Filming an action scene with the real Abu Dhabi Swat team added a little something today.

"Thanks for coming out to play and kicking my ass lads. Maybe y’all might catch me next time. #Mirage”

Standen also shared images from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and of the now-closed Tiara revolving restaurant at Marina Mall, saying its light show had “Middle Earth vibes”.

Mirage's other stars include Bad Blood actress Maxim Roy, who has also been documenting her time in the capital.

While the plot of Mirage is yet to be revealed, Cineflix's Julien Leroux said the show would be six one-hour episodes and would be shown on France Televisions and Germany's ZDF.
