Stones top NME nominations

Plus: Michael Winner dies at 77; Bellucci to shoot film in Bosnia; and hoax sends police to Chris Brown's home.

The Rolling Stones were nominated for four NME music awards on Monday for Best Live Band, Best Book, Music Moment of the Year and Best Music Film. "When I first heard it was four things, I thought: 'Ooh, blimey! That's very nice!'" said the lead singer Mick Jagger. Also awarded with four nods were Haim, Tame Impala and MIA. Receiving three nominations was David Bowie, who earlier this month released his first new music in a decade. Pussy Riot were shortlisted in the Music Moment of the Year award. Rounding out the category was Bowie's comeback, the Olympic Games opening, The Stone Roses reuniting and Green Day's secret set at the Reading Festival. Winners will be announced in London on February 27. * Reuters

Bellucci to shoot film in Bosnia

The Italian actress Monica Bellucci is to play the main role in Emir Kusturica's new movie Love and War, which is set in Bosnia. "The movie Love and War will be filmed from May until the end of June in Trebinje" in southeastern Bosnia, said the Sarajevo-born Kusturica, a two-time winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes. The director and actress are in Bosnia this week to attend the Kuestendorf film and music festival. * AFP

Michael Winner dies at 77

The British filmmaker Michael Winner died on Monday after an illness. He was 77. Winner's 30 movies included three Death Wish films starring the late Charles Bronson. Winner also worked with Marlon Brando, Burt Lancaster and Faye Dunaway. He also had a second career as restaurant critic in The Sunday Times. The comedian John Cleese said Winner had been "the dearest, kindest, funniest and most generous of friends. I shall miss him terribly". * AP

Hoax sends police to Brown home

Police have responded to Chris Brown's home after they received a call about a domestic violence situation that turned out to be false. When police arrived, members of Brown's staff were present but the singer wasn't. It's the latest prank targeting celebrities. Last week, Beverly Hills police responded to a fake armed robbery call at Tom Cruise's house. Other hoax calls have been made involving the homes of the Kardashian family, Justin Bieber, Ashton Kutcher and Miley Cyrus. * AP
