Singer-songwriters are being offered the chance to make a quick buck for sharing their sounds.

Belgian-themed tapas bar Bapas is hosting a new twist on the open mic concept, which gives players and singers the chance to bag a cut of the venue’s bar take.

Kicking off on Saturday (October 11) at 7pm, the new Sessions Live at Bapas concept will see three stripped-back solo or duo acts perform 30 minute sets of originals and covers, each competing for the public vote.

Whoever impresses the bar’s patrons the most that night will be invited back to the H Hotel venue a two weeks later (October 25) to play for the whole evening — and in return take home five per cent of the venue’s revenue for the evening.

Three acts have already been named to perform at the Saturday debut — Brazilian-infused duo Rose Leon, synth-guitar and drum pairing W&D and the Amarna Project.

However slots are currently open to compete in the November competition heat on Saturday November 15, with the winner again returning to play a full set (and bag a cut of the bar take) a two weeks later (November 29).
