The cultural relationship between the UAE and the US will be at the heart of an innovative event on February 12.

Mixing information and entertainment, it will feature a panel discussion and a concert by pop singer Mary McBride.

The event at New York University Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island Campus, which begins at 6.30pm, will kick off with a discussion about the deployment of cultural ambassadors in both countries.

Speaking from the American perspective will be musician and cultural envoy McBride, who has performed in more than 20 countries and released four albums. Her best-known song is No One's Gonna Love You like Me, which was featured on the soundtrack to Academy Award-winning film Brokeback Mountain.

Representing the UAE will be Noor Al Suwaidi, an artist and the curator behind Past Forward: Contemporary Art from the Emirates, a cultural diplomacy exhibition on display in the USA at UCLA that tells the story of the UAE’s rich history, culture and development through 50 paintings, sculptures, and other artworks by 25 Emirati artists.

The evening will conclude with a live outdoor performance from McBride.
