National Geographic Abu Dhabi has announced the shortlisted entries for its annual photography competition, which focuses on nurturing the talent of regional photographers in telling the stories of the people of the Arab world.
More than 40,000 entries were received, double that of 2017, with a marked increase of entries from the GCC. Sixty-four shortlisted images have been announced, and several are from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman. Here we have presented a gallery of eight of the 64 shortlisted images.
The winner of the competition will be announced at an event in Dubai in November. He or she will have their image printed in the Arabic edition of National Geographic, go on an expedition to Italy and receive camera equipment.
