Shah Rukh Khan landed in Dubai on Sunday, ready to begin shooting the second part of the #BeMyGuest Dubai promotional film. The Bollywood star, and Dubai regular, will also be taking part in promotional duties for the films, and the emirate itself, alongside the film’s director Kabir Khan.
The first film saw SRK take a tour of some of his favourite hotspots, including the Spice Souk, Skydive Dubai and, of course, the beach, and has racked up almost nine million views on YouTube since it was posted on Visit Dubai’s YouTube page in December. It has received a reported 45M views across multiple social media platforms in the same period. It also peaked at number three on YouTube’s worldwide trending list, was one of the top ten most watched films on the site in December, and has picked up awards including the Grand Prix at the International Tourism Film Festival, Tourfilm Riga, held in Latvia and the Diamond Award at ITB Berlin’s Golden City Gate tourism awards.
SRK was met on arrival by representatives from Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing, who are funding the films, and is believed to have discussed future collaborations. The actor added that making the Dubai-plugging films was far from a chore, as he is already a big fan of the city: “I really enjoyed making it and am happy we are making another one,” he said. “I am not an advocate for Dubai because I have done Dubai Tourism films, I genuinely like being in Dubai, I think it’s a really wonderful place, it’s a fantastic city…It has everything for everyone.”
