Salman Khan’s Kick scheduled for release during Eid next year

Salman Khan’s film Kick will be out during Eid next year. Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film will begin shooting in Mumbai next month. Khan’s Eid-release movies in recent years have all gone on to become hits: Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard(2011) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012). The actor’s new action film Mental was to hit cinemas during Eid this year but the plan was abandoned when the movie wasn’t completed on time. The coveted slot was instead taken by Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express, an action comedy currently out in UAE cinemas. The film has already broken box-office records in India. Mental, directed by Khan’s brother Sohail, is scheduled for release in January.

Chris Brown concerts cancelled in Canada

The promoter of four Chris Brown concerts scheduled this summer in Canada says the events have been cancelled. The decision was made after consulting with Brown and in light of his recent personal and health-related issues. The R&B star had his probation reinstated on Friday after he was involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident. Brown also suffered a seizure earlier this month. His publicist said the singer regrets that he won’t be able to perform. – AP

The Calling singer attacked in Michigan

Alex Band, the lead singer of the American rock group The Calling, was abducted and robbed after performing at a festival in Lapeer, Michigan, on Saturday. Band had a spinal fracture and three broken teeth and took 15 stitches to his chin. In a statement, The Calling said Band was visiting a mini-market after the show when he “was grabbed by his shirt and hit from behind”. Band had a gun put to his face while an attacker demanded his “Hollywood money”. Band, who is going to be a father, told his assailants as much, to which one of the men responded: “We don’t kill fathers,” before releasing him. – AP
