Have you ever felt the urge to dress up as large-lunged, leather-loving, late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury for a day?
Personally, I’m a no, but if you have you won’t get many better opportunities than on Friday September 5, when Dubai’s Hard Rock Cafe will be celebrating Freddie for a Day, marking the singer’s birthday with a host of Queen-themed events for charity The Mercury Phoenix Trust, which helps raise AIDS/HIV awareness around the world.
Events kick into gear a few days early with a Queen-themed relaunch of the venue’s Monster Music Quiz on Monday September 1, then On Friday, 5th September, Hard Rock staff will be wearing (and selling) Freddie moustaches, with all proceeds benefitting The Mercury Phoenix Trust. Guests have the opportunity to come down to listen to their favourite Queen songs, both on the juke box during the day and, at night, performed by resident band The Explosions, who will also be joining in with the theme. Guests who wish to support the cause can choose to add a donation to their bill, which will be passed on directly to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
