Chopra releases her debut single
The actress Priyanka Chopra this week unveiled her debut music single, In My City. "This is the culmination of a two-year journey that has been the toughest yet most enriching experience," she said. The song features the American rapper will.i.am, and is produced by Lady Gaga's manager, Troy Carter. "I walked into this as a novice, with no training in music," said Chopra. "I hope I've been able to create a sound that India will be proud of." Her debut album is expected to be released early next year. - IANS
Johar all praises for Basu's new film
The filmmaker Karan Johar says he felt "talentless" after watching Anurag Basu's new film Barfi!, about a deaf-mute boy befriending an autistic girl. "I have never felt more limited, inferior and talentless. Anurag Basu is the god of all filmmakers," Johar posted on Twitter on Saturday. "Ranbir Kapoor [pictured] has given the most outstanding performance. It will be an honour to work with him. Kudos for this masterpiece that defines the barometer of modern cinema." Varma gears for Bhoot sequel release
The filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has announced he has finishing shooting Bhoot Returns, the sequel to his 2003 horror hit Bhoot. He revealed the 3D movie was filmed inside a house in Mumbai that was believed to be haunted. "The cast and crew was a bit spooked. As for me, I was busy trying to scare them so I never had the time to feel afraid," said Varma. Bhoot Returns marks the Bollywood comeback of the actress Manisha Koirala. It co-stars JD Chakravarthy and Madhu Shalini. It will be released in India on October 12. - IANS
Khan joins Facebook, gets two million likes
After his fellow Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan joined Facebook early this month, Salman Khan created his own official page on Friday and quickly gathered more than two million likes in a day. "A lot of people told me that I have many fake Facebook pages, and wanted to know when I was going to join. So here I am now on this platform," said Khan, 46, in a video message. Designer reveals Khan-Kapoor wedding details
The fashion designer Manish Malhotra has confirmed that the actors Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor are getting married next month and that he will be designing Kapoor's wedding dress. "It will be a very small function with family and friends, then a reception in Delhi. I'm designing for both occasions," said Malhotra, adding that Kapoor wants to keep things simple: "Kareena has never liked too much embroidery or jewellery.
