There's a colourful performance set to light up the stage at NYU Abu Dhabi next week, and its vibrancy might just make it a family favourite.

Italian performance group Compagnia TPO will make its UAE debut on Thursday, September 28.

Farfalle is a production that sees two dancers explore the metamorphosis of a chrysalis into a butterfly in an interactive digital audio/video environment. As they engage with the space around them — as well as audience members — there will be elements of play, vivid lighting and sound for all to experience.

Taking place in The Black Box — an intimate space ideal for such a performance — Farfalle will show its brilliance through interactive performance media that merges with multi-disciplinary performance techniques like music, dance, sculpture, and computer technology.

There will be 18 performances throughout September and October as well as performances for school groups and children with special needs.

The Arts Centre's executive artistic director Bill Bragin is excited to welcome the show to Abu Dhabi.

“We scheduled multiple performances over two long weekends, so that we can really reach the UAE community," he says.

"Compagnia TPO’s Farfalle builds on the recent success of another dance in a digital environment project, Pixel, to show how the arts and cutting edge technology are in constant conversation to create new approaches to the performing arts. The piece also continues The Arts Centre’s focus on art with an environmental theme, this time aimed at young audiences.”

Tickets for Farfalle are now on sale. For details go to www.nyuad-artscenter.org
