Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has announced a number of fully-funded scholarships for young Arab acting talent to study at the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy.

The announcement came after Al Qasimi attended the closing ceremony of the third edition of the Sharjah GCC Theatre Festival, according to Emirates News Agency.

Addressing the ceremony, Al Qasimi reaffirmed continued financial and academic support for the study of theatrical performance, saying he would continue to provide the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy with the latest equipment to ensure continued links and sharing of experience and information with local and international institutions.

The Sharjah Performing Arts Academy, which is due to open later this year, will include modern studios, a main theatre hall, a studio theatre, and halls for performing exercises. The facilties will be equipped with the latest audio and visual technologies.
