Classical aficionados are in for a treat as multimedia show Vivaldianno - City of Mirrors takes place atop Jebel Jais on the evening of October 27.
Jabel Jais is the UAE’s tallest peak and a signature landmark of the Hajar Mountains.
Vivaldianno - City of Mirrors is based on the life and music of violinist Antonio Vivaldi. A team of musicians from around the world will be backed up by 3-D projections, colours and lights, as well as modern choreography to tell the story.
“Tremendous detail has gone into the planning of this event which is historic in its scope for the UAE,” says Haitham Mattar, CEO of Ras al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.
"We are pushing the boundaries in our efforts to enhance Ras Al Khaimah's visitor experience. Vivaldianno is a first for the UAE and offers up a genuine sensory overload at one of the emirate's most iconic landmarks."
Event producer Michal Dvořák has promised classical fans it will to stick to the original score, while introducing modern twists of which he’s sure Vivaldi himself would approve of.
“We are adding modern instruments the way Antonio himself might have included them. The show strives to enforce and emphasise the original music in a contemporary means of expression," he adds.
Organised by the Ras al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, roads to the mountain will be closed on the day of the concert.
Doors for the gig will open at 4.30pm and close at 6.45pm. Last shuttles will leave the car park at 6.30pm. Guests who arrive early can enjoy sunset drinks and refreshments from the venue.
Using promo code "VivaldiannoRAK", those wishing to attend the concert can hire Uber for a round-trip car service from Dubai for Dh575 with split rider fares accepted as well.
Ticket-holders making their own way there can park in a dedicated car park at the foot of Jebel Jais and catch a shuttle bus to the concert site.
In addition to the Jebel Jais car park, ticket-holders can reach the concert via free shuttle buses from Ras al Khaimah Convention Centre on Marjan Island, Al Hamra Convention Centre and Hilton Garden Inn, Ras al Khaimah. Two buses will leave each venue at 4pm and 4.30pm.
