Smash Broadway show Jersey Boys is coming to Dubai Opera, booked for a week-long stay in the city from October 14-18.

The "jukebox musical" uses familiar, foot-tapping tunes to tell the story of sixties rock band Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. The vibrant production is packed with favourites including Can't Take My Eyes Off You, Sherry, Walk Like a Man and Big Girls Don't Cry. Structured around the four "seasons", the rags to riches story is told from each band member's perspective.

Running for 12 interrupted years on Broadway following its 2005 debut, the original Jersey Boys production bagged a mammoth 57 major stage awards, including the prestigious Tony Award for Best Musical. The show coming to Dubai is from the UK based production company Selladoor Worldwide.

Dubai Opera House will be hoping Jersey Boys will generate a similar buzz to previous big budget musicals staged at the venue: Cats, West Side Story and Les Misérables all received extended runs – the later shifted an incredible 41,312 tickets over a three-week stay in the city.

Before Jersey Boys, the anticipated Mary Poppins production will arrives for three weeks from May 2-25.

The Dubai Opera is preparing to celebrate its 100th show on Saturday (March 11) – read our look back at the venue's historic six months here.

Tickets for Jersey Boys go on sale from Sunday (March 12) at 9am from www.dubaiopera.com.
