Dubai's 'La Perle by Dragone' suddenly closes for two weeks
Ticket holders were emailed on Wednesday evening to warn of the theatre's immediate closure due to 'unforeseen circumstances'
Dubai’s post-industrial circus/cabaret extravaganza La Perle by Dragone has closed until July 11.
Customers on Wednesday evening noted on social media that they had received an email from La Perle stating that the venue was closing with immediate effect, from June 26 until July 11, due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
A La Perle spokesperson told The National on Thursday, however, that the closure was for “routine maintenance,” and that it was normal for the venue to go dark for a couple of weeks around this time of year due to the large amount of machinery and equipment that must be maintained to keep the spectacle both spectacular and safe.
The timing does however come right after the venue closed for the month of Ramadan.
The spokesperson explained that the "unforeseen circumstance" was that the maintenance had initially been planned for later in the year, but because a pair of key cast members had become unavailable it was decided to move the repairs forward.
Both the spokesperson and the box office confirmed that the venue would be reopening on July 11 as stated, and tickets are currently available to purchase on La Perle’s website from July 11 onwards.
La Perle by Dragone, which opened in late 2017, is Dubai’s first, permanent, Las Vegas-style entertainment extravaganza, featuring dancers, acrobats, motorcycles, pyrotechnics and more. It was created and produced by world renowned artistic director, Franco Dragone, whose previous work includes the spectacular stage show for Celine Dion’s A New Day, Las Vegas staple Le Rêve) and the spectacular House of Dancing Water in Macau.
Ticket holders with bookings during the closed period should contact the La Perle box office for refund information.
