Award-winning comedian Alan Davies is heading to the UAE, to perform at Dubai Opera on Friday, June 14. He'll be joined on stage by up-and-comers Rhys James, Tom Lucy and host Jarred Christmas.

Davies is best known for being a resident comic on popular British game show QI, as well as the protagonist in the hit Bafta-winning BBC crime drama, Jonathan Creek, in which he plays a magician with a knack for solving 'impossible' crimes.

He started out in stand-up comedy back in 1988, and was named as Time Out London's Best Young Comic in 1991. Since then, he's added sell-out tours, a BBC1 special and a West End season to his resume.

Dubai Opera chief executive Jasper Hope says: "Alan Davies is not just quite interesting on TV, he is a comedy great as a live entertainer and I can't wait to hear his brilliant wit as he makes light of life in the intimate setting of Dubai Opera."

Supporting acts

The supporting line-up is perhaps just as impressive. Rhys James has appeared on TV programmes such as Mock the Week, Sweat the Small Stuff and Seann Walsh's Late Night Comedy Spectacular, as well as written for the likes of 8 Out of 10 Cats and Mock the Week. His new show, Wiseboy, will be staged this year at The Soho Theatre, and he also has a new Radio 4 show called Rhys James is... Priveleged.

Tom Lucy, meanwhile, is one of the youngest pro comedians on the UK circuit at the moment. The award-winner started out at age 16 and now, at 22, he performs regularly among the UK's top clubs, including Komedia and The Comedy Store.

Host Jarred Christmas is an acclaimed comedian in his own right, having appeared on radio, TV and stages in the UK (where the New Zealander is now based).
