Arab comedy stars performing as part of Dubai Shopping Festival
From Palestinian-American Mo Amer and Saudi Arabia's Bader Saleh to UAE's very own Ali Al Sayed, lots of laughs are on the way
The Dubai Shopping Festival continues to roll out the performances as part of its 25th anniversary. On Thursday, January 16, fans of regional stand-up comedy can see four of its leading names take over the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Leading the pack is a Palestinian-American comedian who honed his craft touring with comedy master Dave Chappelle. In addition to being an experienced international performer, Amer has his own special, The Vagabond, which is available to stream on Netflix.
Also on the bill in Dubai is Lebanese funny man Nemr Abou Nassar. As well as his popular stand-up special No Bombing in Beirut, which was broadcast on Showtime in 2017, Nemr has also performed in front of a packed crowd in Dubai – at Music Hall in 2018.
A stalwart of the Saudi comedy scene, Saleh first found success with his YouTube comedy show Eysh Elly, before hosting his own late night talk show on MBC, called The Tonight Show with Bader Saleh. He is now back in his element on the comedy stage.
Ali Al Sayed
Rounding off the bill is the much-loved Al Sayed. The Emirati is a doyen of the UAE stand-up circuit as both a promoter and organiser. An experienced international performer, he also has a special, Onestly Sbeaking, which was filmed as part of the 2015 Dubai Comedy Festival.
