Police have recovered a note purportedly written by the late actress Jiah Khan, who was found dead in her Mumbai home on June 3. In the six-page letter, Khan apparently speaks about her troubled relationship with her boyfriend Sooraj Pancholi. “Jiah Khan’s mother has handed over the note to us along with her statement. It will be scrutinised and legal opinion will be sought,” read a statement from Mumbai police. Sooraj is the son of the actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. – IANS

2. IIeana: no expectations from Bollywood

The Southern Indian actress Ileana D’Cruz, who started her Bollywood career with 2012’s acclaimed film Barfi!, says she came to the Hindi film industry with “no expectations”. “I have actually walked into Bollywood with no expectations whatsoever. I did not expect to be appreciated for my work in Barfi!, but when people did, it was very humbling for me,” said the 25-year-old star. D’Cruz is currently shooting for Phata Poster Nikla Hero along with Shahid Kapoor. “I am just taking it as it goes. I am hoping for good films to come my way,” she said. – IANS

3. The Hunt is on for Bachelorette host

The actors Ayub Khan (pictured) and Sameer Soni have been approached to host the new reality series The Bachelorette India Mere Khayalon Ki Mallika. Khan turned down the offer, saying his role in the soap opera Uttaran was “too time-consuming”. Soni confirmed he’d been asked but said negotiations were still continuing. “Yes, I have been approached,” Sonu said. “But nothing has been finalised.” The Bachelorette India will feature the actress Mallika Sherawat as the eligible bachelorette, with contestants competing to become her partner. – IANS

4. Javed Akhtar’s copyright quest goes global

The writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar’s battle to secure copyright benefits for writers and musicians in India has gone global. Khan, 68, has been appointed the vice president of the International Confederation of Authors and Composers Society (CISAC), a Paris-based organisation that monitors copyright laws across the world to protect artists’ creative works. Speaking from Washington, DC, Khan said he was “pleasantly surprised”. “I guess my battle for copyright and royalty for Indian musicians reached this prestigious global forum,” he said. – IANS

5. Suresh Menon is out of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa

The actor and comic Suresh Menon became the first celebrity contestant to be eliminated from the reality dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6 on Saturday. The episode also saw the entry of Krishnamachari Srikkanth, a former captain of the Indian cricket team, to the competition. Suresh and his choreographer Suchitra Sen were among the bottom three contestants, along with the actors Meghna Malik and Ekta Kaul. The result was decided on the basis of audience votes and the verdicts of the judges – Madhuri Dixit, Karan Johar and Remo D’Souza. – IANS
