Canada denies Randy Quaid’s request to stay

Canadian immigration officials have denied the American actor Randy Quaid’s request for permanent resident status in Canada. US officials last year refused to seek extradition of the actor and his wife from Canada to face felony vandalism charges in Santa Barbara, California, but authorities say they’ll still have the couple arrested if they return to the US. Quaid has sought to stay in Canada, claiming he was being hunted by “Hollywood star-whackers” who he claims killed his friends David Carradine and Heath Ledger. – AP

WikiLeaks film leaked to Julian Assange

Julian Assange says he has obtained a leaked copy of the script for The Fifth Estate, a DreamWorks film about him and his famed site. Assange said his unauthorised sneak peek has left him convinced the film is a hit piece. “It is a mass propaganda attack against WikiLeaks (and) the character of my staff,” he said, saying the plot revolves around a fictional mole in Iran’s nuclear programme who discovers the country has built an atom bomb. In the film, the informant flees to Iraq when WikiLeaks publishes his name. The Fifth Estate stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Assange. – AP
