Expect to see Nancy Ajram on the small screen during Ramadan.

The Lebanese singer will make her acting debut as part of the pan-Arab series Nisa Min Dahab (Woman of Gold), which will air nightly during the holy month.

Shooting for the 30-episode season is already underway in various parts of Lebanon and the cast features seasoned Egyptian talents Nabila Ebeid and Nadia El Gendy. The show is put together by Cedar Arts Productions, who found success last Ramadan with the tense drama Khamsa We Nos.

While it is yet to be known what role Ajram will play, the series follows two friends (played by Ebeid and El Gendy) who were swindled in a property deal. Not surprisingly, Ajram has also agreed to sing the show's theme song as well.

Ajram’s switch to acting may have surprised fans, as she has often expressed an ambivalent attitude towards acting.

In a 2014 interview with The National she declared that music will always be her main career priority.

“Acting is something that must come naturally. For me to get involved in it is similar to learning a new craft. I need to study it and approach it with the respect it deserves,” she said.

“Right now, it is music that has been taking most of my time. I will not say never to doing films, but perhaps in the future, once I have the time to find the right project and the right people.”

While it appears that she finally found the right collaborators, it doesn't mean Ajram has had success on the small screen. As well as being a popular judge on Arab Idol, she showcased her mentoring talent on The Voice Kids: Ahla Sawt, with her protegee, the 11-year-old Syrian Mohamad Islam Rmeih, going on to win the competition just last week.

Ajram also joins a number of pop-stars appearing in a Ramadan series over the years.

Egyptian singer Tamer Hosny starred in the dramas Adam (2011) and Farq Tawqit (2014), both of which went on to become a major hits, while fellow Egyptian pop-star Sherine Abdelwahab also earned rave reviews for lead role in the 2015 Ramadan series Taree'i.
