For the first time in her wide-reaching career, British artist Dido is coming to Dubai. The White Flag singer is set to perform at Dubai Media City Amphitheatre on Friday, December 13, and tickets for the concert will go on sale on Monday, September 2 at noon.

Dido is probably best known for her soulful and chilled hits, or Stan, her highly charged and emotional 2000 collaboration with Eminem.

The concert has been organised by Mission Control X, a Dubai events management company who is also responsible for Abu Dhabi's The Big Grill Festival.

Dido is currently touring her latest album, Still On My Mind, which includes songs Hurricanes, Friends and Give You Up. She is travelling around South America and Europe throughout November and early December, with dates in Buenos Aires, Mexico City, Amsterdam and Glasgow, to name just four.

It is the first time she has been on tour in 15 years, having initially stopped in 2003.

Of her break from the public eye, Dido told iNews: "I was writing after I had my son [in 2011]. But I don’t think I wrote anything good for three years, partly because my songwriting is so much about light and dark.

"My whole MO from the beginning has been that every song is about a conflicted situation or emotion. Then I had Stanley and was like, ‘I just love him, I want to keep him safe'. There was nothing to write. I stopped seeing the light and dark."

However, she started feeling the urge to perform again, as she explained to Billboard. “I spent a lot of time saying no to that question [of touring]. But as an artist and a songwriter, you start really missing being right in front of the people who listen to your music. It makes you a better writer and artist to actually engage with the people who listen to your music, it’s all fundamental."
